Am 10. Mai 2019 war das White Horse Theatre wieder zu Gast an unserer Schule. Für die Klassen 5 und 6 wurde das Stück „Honesty“ aufgeführt, während die Klassen 7 bis 9 das Stück „The Tyrants‘ Kiss“ sahen. Ein großes Dankeschön gilt an dieser Stelle dem Förderverein für die finanzielle Unterstützung.
White Horse Theatre Summary
On March 22, the play “Honesty” by Peter Griffith was given for the 5th and 6th classes. In the play, two teenagers watch a thief stealing a handbag, which leads to a giant chase through the streets of London. The chase takes them past Big Ben, Tower Bridge, Buckingham Palace and Madame Tussauds. According to some pupils the play was very amusing and funny, as for example the pupils themselves were included in the play.
The 7th-9th classes saw the play “The Tyrant’s Kiss”, a modern adaptation of the Shakespearean drama “Pericles”. The play’s main character is a young man who flees from the police to Italy. On his journey he encounters many hazards, which include a sinking ship, many police controls and difficult people encounters. On his journey he meets a nice woman, with whom he later has a child. But sadly, he gets arrested on the same day. However, after fifteen years in prison, he finally finds his wife and child again. The play ends with a beautiful kiss between husband and wife.
Sadly the play felt a bit jerky and wasn’t as entertaining as the previous plays. Thankfully, the play “Honesty” was a lot better due to the entertainment and integration of the audience. The actors were also great and answered questions after their performances. Since the play “The Tyrant’s Kiss” was the first play that I personally did not like as much as the former ones, I dare to say that the White Horse Theatre will give us more entertaining plays again in the future. To sum up, in both cases, the topics were, more or less, vividly communicated and the pupils were still well entertained.

Am Freitag, den 10.05. 2019, besuchte das White Horse Theatre die Schule und bot, sowohl den Schülerinnen und Schülern, als auch den Lehrkräften zwei beeindruckende Vorstellungen. Schon am Vortag bauten viele fleißige Hände Sitzmöglichkeiten und die Bühne auf. Am Freitag in der dritten und vierten Schulstunde bekamen die Schüler und Schülerinnen der Jahrgangsstufe fünf und sechs schließlich das Theaterstück „Honesty“ zu sehen, welches die Verfolgung eines Taschendiebes zeigte. Im Anschluss sah die Schülerschaft der siebten bis neunten Jahrgangsstufe das Stück „The Tyrant’s Kiss“. Dieses behandelte die dramatische Geschichte eines Flüchtlings auf der Flucht vor der Polizei, die ihn durch die verschiedensten Orte führte. Durch die Verwendung passend ausgewählter Requisiten war es möglich, verschiedenste Situationen zu inszenieren und Bühnenbilder zu gestalten, obwohl dabei immer dasselbe Gerüst verwendet wurde. Die Theaterstücke wurden von gut gewählter Musik untermalt und begeisterten sowohl die Schülerinnen und Schüler als auch die Lehrkräfte.
Nach den Aufführungen fand eine humorvolle Fragerunde statt, bei der die vier Darsteller den Schülerinnen und Schülern Fragen beantworteten. Daraufhin verabschiedeten sie sich und die Schülerschaft freut sich nun schon auf die Aufführungen im kommenden Jahr.
